Jersery Giants

Any one on here keep these Chickens?? ---- Paul

Lodi, United States

I have had them--and ZZ too. They were very nice...I kept hatching roos--so I never had a hen. But the roos were sweet hearts. I did have a JG/Black Australorp that was the nicest hen I've ever had and laid nice big brown eggs.

Cat Where did you get the Eggs For the Giants? Paul

Lodi, United States

I got some from a member of Dave's who is no longer here and some from eBay. I can look up the breeders, if you like.

thanks when you have time------- paul

I have Jersey Giant hens and they are very sweet and calm. They are good layers, mine lay speckled brown eggs. None of mine has ever gone broody. In spite of their bulk, they tolerate our hot humid weather well.

I love my Jersy hens, but got rid of the rooster. He had the loudest crow I ever heard. He did however make excellent Coque au Vin (not sure if I spelled that right). He dressed out at just about 8 pounds at a year old.
