I had four pitiful pea plants sprout out of 16 seeds planted. The plants look sad, and so does my harvest.
I guess I need to figure out what I did wrong, and try again next year.
My beans aren't doing any better. Only one sprouted out of 16 planted, and I haven't even seen any flowers.
On a brighter note, my tomatoes are doing well (I think??). No fruit yet, but plenty of flowers :)
I don't need help eating these....
Jeannie: I had rotten luck with beans this past Spring and summer myself, finally gave up on them myself. I have heard people talking on the threads about using an innoculant with the beans; so, hopefully, someone who is experienced in growing beans will check out this thread and give you some useful tips. I'm a beginner gardener and had bad luck with the beans, my tomatoes, eggplants, okra, cukes, corn, peppers and watermelons did fine; but for some reason the beans did not do well at all.

LOL at the title :)
Bush Beans did amazing in an EB for me earlier this year(getting ready to replant some more). The beans in regular containers didn't do near as well. Everybody always told me how easy beans are to grow, I never had much luck with them until this year. What are you growing them in? Try growing some in a SWC and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Ray: You could have a very good point there, I tried growing them in hanging bags and lost them all at the start of the season. Beans don't cost that much so I haven't bothered using EBs with them.

Grown in Earth Boxes, with coco coir ammended with a bit of epsom salts, dolomite lime, and slow release fertilizer.
Wow, sounds like you need a different variety. What kind of bean is it?
I think it was called "Emerite Pole Bean"?
I have scarlet runner beans and bush green beans doing well in the same set-up as Jeannie (coco coir plus amendments) BUT I had peas and snow peas in the same mix and they DIDN'T do well this year. Why?? Dunno.
Slow release fertilizer, hmmmm, could that be the reason I wonder?
