Feeding old dogs with allergies

Lancaster, PA(Zone 6a)

I hate to raise this can of worms again but I want to put my old boxer on a diet free of junk additives. He is having a bad allergy year and I want to make sure that aside from pollen, which I am sure is the major culprit, there is nothing in his feed that can add to it. Typically I feed him twice a day with a combination of kibble and wet food. The canned food is simply to increase the palatability of his dinner. At present I am using lamb and rice kibble from Nature's recipe and purina Proplan canned. He does very well on this. He also gets a fish oil supplement to get some more omega-3 into his diet. Looking at the ingredients the Nature's Remedy kibble looks OK but I am not so sure of the Proplan. A friend has suggested Drs Foster & Smith products, both canned and kibble. Any opinions on that brand?
