Looks great iris. Night Runner is amazing with its five or six or seven rings of color. Pretty unique.

Wow it is a beauty! Love all the colors! What did they cross to get Night Runner? Rum Runner and what other hibbie? Anybody know?

Great beauties, congrats!

I'm not 100% sure but my best guess would be Nightfire X Rum Runner....just based on the name chosen.

You may be right Jon. Sure looks like that could be the correct cross going by the colors in this picture. Do you have this one, Jon? And is it as good a bloomer as Rum Runner?

It did not bloom as well as Rum Runner blooms....at least for me it didn't. I used to have Night Runner but I gave it away about 2 months ago. Mine tended to have many blooms that faced slightly downward or downward so I decided to give it to a friend that wanted it. I just wanted to keep the numbers down so I could add others somewhere down the line. I'm not sure if its a trend in the variety or was just an individual characteristic of my plant.

mine was slightly pointing down then it rained and i was for shure it was gonna break before it opened

If I remember correctly "Night Runner" is pretty good at holding its buds on the plant. I don't think you're gonna lose many in rain just prior to opening. You picked out two other nice varieties which gives you a good range in colors. It's nice to hear you like your plants from Big Bad Flower. I've heard of them but haven't ordered from them yet.

thanks every one . i only got the 3 because i wanted to try them out first . the plants from big bad flower came in a cute very safe package . they were plugs but very full of roots and very healthy . they grew so fast . and are 6 and change a piece . cant beat that . so we will order again from them soon mom saw that night runner and wanted some . i have to have black dragon and a few others . lol

Good idea to start with a few and see how they do. Black Dragon is a beauty. It can be a bit more difficult to grow as its a bit of a slow grower and doesn't like to be overwatered. It is a little less forgiving compared to most others. Delta Dawn is a great bloomer and its really more purple compared to the picture on their website. Voodoo Magic is another great plant that blooms very very well. Me Oh My Oh I've heard great things about. I've had/have Magnifique and Magic Moments which are both double blooms. As with many doubles they are a bit more prone to bud drop prior to blooming. They can be helped by being in a location which is a bit more sheltered from wind.

funny , those are also on my wish list !i was looking at delta dawn this morning and voodoo magic . thats disappointing about black dragon . slow growers arnt my cup o tea . i get impatient easy ... lol

A slow grower isn't always a bad thing, especially if you're going to grow something in a pot. It just depends on personal preference. Some people may prefer something that doesn't grow so fast, especially if they are going to have to store it inside during the winter. It will take up less space. If you have tons of extra space inside then it would be less of an issue.
I've had Delta Dawn in the ground for 2 years now. Here's a typical looking Delta Dawn bloom.

Oops, the prior picture is a "Delta Dawn" bloom in cooler weather. The colors really deepen when its cooler outside. This is a picture of a more typical Delta Dawn bloom.

gee iris what a fabulous bloom you have, I can't get over how large it is! How long from time you got it till time it bloomed? I've been wanting to try the bigbad flower folks but I've been a little skidish, yours looks super though. I may just place an order.

i think i got them the end of may . all of them have buds and they all were the same size . it was around 20 for all three . so i m happy even though they were small .
