After a great deal of internet research it took one of our 10 year olds to find out what our playground visitor was! We took the picture this morning and compared it to quite a few pictures on the internet. We are pretty sure that what we have is a Great Golden Digger Wasp. It is very interesting to watch this wasp do her work! We were able to witness it dig out huge "boulders" and carry a tranquilized grasshopper into her hole. We also began watching her refill one of her holes, which we were very curious about. Maybe now we won't have the janitor spray!
