Just what am I anyway?

So I have this little roo....I thought he was a Dutch Bantam, but now I am not so sure. He has REALLY long legs. I call him Daddy Long Legs. He's really cute....but I don't think he's a pure DB. What do you think?

Well, since you confuse ducks with nuts (Pekins) I can see your confusion. Apparently there is a BIG problem with people crossing DBs with OEGs. I was just looking at a web site decrying the practice.

Here he is with a young Polish to the right, and then a young DB hen to the further right. She is much shorter than him!

But he's taller than my OEGs too!!! Here he is next to a DB hen...

I'm thinking MG--but ZZ's the expert there. It is hard to get pure DB. Who's eggs did he come from--well who was the breeder anyway?

Ummmm....the lady that you and ZZ recommended for DBs. What was her name.....umm.....

I haven't got any MGs so it could only have come from elsewhere.

I am rather fond of him though.

Thereasa! Her DBs were really lovely....but that doens't mean there couldn't have been some funny business somewhere. I have an alleged "Frizzled Japanese Bantam" that is anything but. I'm thinking it is a JB X Silkie.

Actually, Theresa has Lemon Blue Modern Game.. That could be a lemon blue splash... She has just as nice Modern Game as she does DBs!

ZZ's Superman makes me just shake my head, she has a nack that I admire when it comes to chickens. Mine are so normal and booring, Not ZZ's I think I hate her. LOL Hay

Heres a pic of a Modern Lemon Blue Splash they must have the yellow neck feathers to be a Lemon Blue.

Well I guess it's official - seems that everybody thinks he is a modern game! That's exciting! Thanks for the pictures everyone! It does confirm that he is something along that line, and he does look like the splash! No yellow in the neck, but that's OK. Anyone who wants to send their pretty MG hens to Iowa is A-OK by me!! LOL!! Daddy Long Legs might need a girl or two!

We are wanting to really cut back on roosters but he's not one of them. I just want less of the huge ones.

Claire he will mate with a regular banty hen and of the resulting chicks some will have the long legs.

what happens when you cross a MG hen with a White Cochin Bantam? a fluffy chick with super long legs? I have 2 MG's left & they run around with Mr. Cotton Candy who is the bantam Cochin. I shutter to think what a cross those will be.
