So, today we got 5 new ducks from the local animal shelter. Two appear to be domestic mallard females, I think. I have another duck I thought was a domestic mallard female but now I think she's a Rouen. Does anyone know the diffs between Rouens and domestic mallards?
Anyway, I thought the other 3 were Pekins, but they are much yellower/creamy coloured than my very white Pekins. Are there other similar breeds to Pekins that are white-but-yellowish?
Are We Pekins?
Rouens are big with deep keels, My pekin was more yellowish when he was younger. The shape sure looks like Pekin. There is annother duck called Aylesbury, it is lower to the ground and has pink feet. It is pretty rare to see one in the states. My money is on Pekin. I have a Rouen that I cross with a pekin, I get truly wonderful meat ducks from them, though few are ever white.
Claire I'm going to say Pekin's they look like some i had for a few days they could be young and just not filled out yet.
Mallards are also smaller then Rouens, you can look at the beak part on them and see the difference.
