Okay, so this is not herb related, but I just got the news that my crazy quilt, "Crazy Diamonds" won first place in the Great American Embroidered Quilt contest at the AQS (American Quilters' Society) show in Knoxville, TN.

Beautiful...and I see flowers/herbs so It counts.
How long did it take to do that work of art?
And what are you going to do with it? hang it somewhere? too pretty to use.

Beautiful!

Yup, not one of those snuggling under quilts. Really, to hang on the wall. Plus, with all the beads, hand embroidery, baubles and such, too delicate to use. This is what I do when I am not in the garden. I teach the techniques, design and such of crazy quilts.

Havent been here in awhile. That is a totally awesome quilt herbalbetty. I can see why you won first.
What is the pink border you used to bind the blocks together? Ribbon or material?

Hi Vickie,

That is 5/8" velvet ribbon that I over-dyed and then hand sewed down where the diamonds came together.

Oh, Betty!! Congratulations on your creation--it is someting you can be very proud of!!! Such pretty colors and visual impact!!

I read something about your crazy quilts somewhere and wondered if you were up to those when you get snowed in. I wish I could sew like that. I got a knitting kit to practice with last year but haven't made a sweater yet.
