chantell - lovely blooms. my myers lemon also has blooms now and it does smell great outside. I never noticed it in prior years - normally I only catch the first flush of blooms.

Hymenocallis festalis blooming. I have to get up close to get the scent, but others with more sensitive sense of smell says that they can smell it from afar.

Good idea Nery...actually I bet RJ would know

No photo but I just harvested, offered and ate a home-grown pineapple. It had a coconut scent and flavor mixed in with the pineapple! I'm replanting the top.

Chantell , Candela,& Soilsandup, beautiful pictures.

Wonderful fragrance from imported German brugmansia. Marbech will fill your greenhouse with a scent that is across between Gardenia, Magnolia, hints of citrus all rolled into one. Love this brug!

I feel my nose-a-twitchin' just hearing about her. Boy those yellow and white blooms of various plants kick butt don't they?

Sarasota, FL

Chantell, Where'd you get the Bouvardia? Seems nobody grows them here in Fl. I've seen a red one but no fragrance.

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

i can barely see the flowers on the ylang ylang anymore because this has become a huge tree. but there is no mistaking when it is in bloom. it kind of smells a lemon dish detergent.

Kevin - got her from Logees....she is seriously one of my favorites for scent now!!!
Candela - the Mysore is part of the sambac family...now where did I get her from???? Have to check my notes...yup, she's the one I got on sale thru the Tops Tropicals site. Nice scent not quite as strong as Maid of Orleans though...

Chantell where did you get your MichelliaxAlba ? I got one and petted it for two years . Cat knocked it off porch , broke tip out , came back ,and then died the next year . I think I must have overwatered . Carried that baby back and forth to Texas two winters . I'm so proud of yours , could we have more pictures please , full plant ?
My moos are great and will probably bloom for me next year . (They go back and forth to Tex too) . digger

Chantell, does the michelia alba smell like "jucyfruit" gum. If so I rooted one, and my oldest daughter has it. It gets full sum, and is growing like a weed. It also stands the winters here. LMK, and I take more clippings. Mike

Dahlonega, GA

mqiq , that's the michelia figo . The alba is't cold hardy . D

digger - my oldest DD was unsure what to get me for Christmas....she heard me mumbling while surfing ebay one night about how I didn't know if I wanted to dump a chuck of change (I whine when paying double digits for even larger plants - sad, but true) for this plant...blah, blah....blah. So she said, how about if I buy it for you for Christmas? Not that the sweet plant enjoyed being stuck in doors but she made it thru the rest of the winter and has thrived outdoors. I'm sorry, digger, yours died..that's so disheartening. I cringe every time the dogs go flying past her on the deck. Although I've learned that investing in a slew of those heavy duty stakes (of various) sizes while they're "in season" is well worth remembering to do. And NEVER, never buy the cheapo pots regardless how marked down they are! I will stand by my Misco pots (middle priced ones) that Walmart carries every spring/summer! Talk about off topic...someone duck tape my mouth...quick!

Mike - her blooms do have some "fruity" undertones to my nose. The plant that I have (no blooms yet) that's known to smell like the Juicy Fruit gum is the Climbing Ylang Ylang Vine/Artabotrys hexapetalus. I thought I lost this one - then again come spring with those nasty cheap pots. But she's got all kinds of leaves on her now...so I hope she'll be ok. As for the michelia figo - I don't have one of those as I decided (after listening to Vi talk about the both of them) to purchase a Michelia skinneriana from Almost Eden this past spring. I believe she (the plant - not Vi) has buds now...waiting patiently to smell these "first hand." Wondering what ya'll have found the hardiness to be on the Michelia skinneriana...
