Can a Y be developed?

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I know this is a silly question but here goes; Can a Y be developed by pruning at the right time to make it grow and develope?
Sometime when you prune a tree it will form another limb and if you keep pinching it back on each developing limb it will
branch out. Is this possible with a Brug?? My white one has a Y, but the other three colors don't. Thanks for any help.

No ... it needs to grow into mature wood before forming a Y, unless it is a cutting grown from above the Y which will already be mature.
No question is a silly question ...it's the only way we learn.
Good luck with your plants.

Thank you I started out with one white Brug and I didn't even know what it was until I came to Dave's Garden. Now I have 4 different colors but two are just babies yet, no Y the same with my two yr. old. waiting for the wood now. My white one, the one that started it all has a Y and I am going to make a cutting from it above the Y. I do have a lot of foliage and it is growing so maybe there is hope for it yet. Winter is really not too far away, I hope it developes before Sept. That is when the white one blooms. They are quite beautiful. Charleen

rides red>> a pile of composted manure in planting it out will surely help it develop a " Y " as fast as it might ever will .. lots of nitrogen to build growth..strength.. and structure.. starting off will get the plant fulfilling whatever it wants to do efore it thinks it's time to flower..
Your white is likely awaiting a cooler time before the flowers.. otherwise it would likely be flowering if it's been over fed..

Got the Y on my orange Brug. Now maybe it will bloom. It really is quite tall
Now come the blooms. I am so anxious to see them. My next starts will be
from this Y. After it blooms. Maybe I won't have to wait so long.

Very Well Done on the advice about the composted manure, Gordon Hawk. It worked! Now got a Y in the Brug. It has grown so tall and The baby Buds are forming. So will watch it for booms. I know it will be beautiful. Will take pictures when it blooms.
