Hi, Todd,
My favourite daylily... As it is a species, not any sort of a named cultivar, I assume that it was introduced by Morren?
altagardener
I assume you are right...I got the plant as H. minor, not as dumortieri.....I was surprised when the entry said it was hybridized by Morren as I too figured it was a species. Anyway, I have now crossed it to Stella D'oro...maybe get a fragrant Stella look-alike!
Just a question ... I thought Hemerocallis dumortieri had brownish/bronze color on the backs of the sepals? Also as I recall mine has more pointed sepals and petals than yours. Compare to saya's pictures in PF: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/127494/
Hmmm...all I know is I got my plant from the UK as Hemerocallis minor...I was not aware of the synonomy until I went to post the picture. It is possible my plant may be misidentified. I got Little Grapette from the same dealer and that one certainly looks like the real McCoy.
I suspect the alleged synonymy in PF may be incorrect... Flora of China considers H. dumortieri to be a separate species from H. minor, which was apparently once considered to be a subspecies of H. flava.
Thinking about it, the plant does look like H. minor, from google comparison, and too open and starry for H. dumortieri.
Here are descriptions for each:

http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200027681
I agree that they synonyms are incorrect and don't belong with H. dumortieri. GRIN also has H. minor listed separately with Hemerocallis graminea and Hemerocallis flava var. minor as it's synonyms.
I've corrected this and created an entry for H. minor. Now...I suspect some of the photos are misplaced. Which ones?
Thanks for clearing this up..I was thinking my minor looked like a smaller version of flava...certainly has the flava fragrance!
I don't think any of the photos are misplaced; the synonymy was the only thing that was incorrect, and with Todd's H. minor being moved to its own entry, all is well.
EDIT: Joan, I see you also corrected that "hybridized by" note... thank you!

Todd, does your photo need to be moved to the H. minor entry?
I did remove the name and year from the hybridizer field. After I did some research, the name noted was a botanist citation, not the person that discovered the species or hybridized it (which wouldn't be right anyway, as species aren't hybridized.)
Yes Joan, please move my picture to the H. minor entry.
Thanks! The photo has been moved.
