Last summer I moved from middle to northern Mississippi and had to put my "Mr Stinky" in a tub. I still have him there. In spring it sent up the bloom, then produced the seed pod. My problem is that it froze in time at that point - never producing foliage. The tub sat in too much sun and had too little water.
My questions: Is it dead? Can I plant the orange seeds? Are there instructions somewhere (for beginners )on how to grow them from seed? I would hate to lose him as I have had it for several years and it was always a conversation piece. It used to get chest high for me and remain beautiful for a long time.
thanks for any help you can give me on this
Libby
Is he dead??
Try:
www.snowsexotics.com/seeds.htm
Not likely the plant would be dead. While the seeds ripen, which can take a very long time, the plant won't be doing much.
thank you ! I didn't know that !!!!
I have just been to that site - it is wonderful. Now I just have to find the time to read and digest it all ! Wow - I have a lot to learn ! I "do" daylilies mostly but it is fun to have other things to show off when you have guests over. I think they are beautiful .

Hi Libby
I don't know what your Mr. Stinky is, but the seeds seem similar to a plant (bulb) I have Sauromatum venosum; also a stinky, pollinated by flies. I see some of the seeds have dropped off already. Take the soft pulp off the seeds and dry them a bit. With the pulp they will take a real long time to germinate - still quite long, but bearable and just go the waiting game.
Do you have Corgi dogs - I have Kerry Blue Terriers.
Margaret
Sauromatum is Typhonium now, so the current name will be Typhonium venosum
thanks everyone !!! I have lots to learn .
yes, I have 2 Pembroke corgis (the ones without tails). My oldest one died last summer of cancer. I love them but boy do they shed !!!!
It is quite a pain all this name changing. I have a fairly up-to-date Royal Horticultural Society A-Z book. To keep really up to date would be a costly business with new books all the time.
Yes Corgis do shed - have a Kerry Blue - they don't.
I've got books that I've written changes into but really now the only way to keep up is via the internet. The International Aroid Society site is good for .......... well, aroids. I don't think they do Corgis though. ;O)
