Here's Hibiscus "Space Oddity" this morning.

Gee, what a difference! How ODD!
Maybe that's why its Hibiscus "Space ODDity". There are quite a few others that do a dramatic color change during the day. Fifth Dimension and Rum Runner are two others that do a big color change during the day no matter what the temperatures are.
I noticed that about Rum Runner, I had to take a double take to make sure I was looking at the same plant. :-) Haven't had the personal pleasure of a Fifth Dimension bloom yet...
Both versions look great Jon, we don't have space oddity but we do have Rum Runner which we purchased as a liner and it's still the same size as when we received it, so I quess we won't see a bloom from that one this year maybe next year.
Thanks Patrick. If I had to pick my favorite of the three (Space Oddity, Rum Runner, Fifth Dimension) it would be Fifth Dimension I think. It's the smallest size bloom of the three, but there's something about the silver coloration it has in the middle of the bloom. It's so vivid and very unique, and here it is.
Jon
what a beauty...can't wait to see what the change looks like.
that's amazing!
Great stuff!
Thanks. LOL I just figured it would be easier to show the color change rather than trying to explain it in words.
I love all the color changes some of these hibbies make. Rum Runner is one of my favorites. Love it in the morning when it's that deep pink color.
I agree. I like Rum Runner best early in the day. I like Fifth Dimension best later in the day.
Those are so interesting. Like having 2 flowers in one. Amazing the changes they make.
All very pretty.

I think that's the most fascinating characteristic of these hibiscus. Just love the way they change. I am looking forward to seeing what all my hibbies look like come fall and then again in Mar-Apr.
