Rubirosa x The Chief - Hybridizer: Liz Fichtl

Clermont, FL(Zone 9b)

I've grown out a bunch of "Chief" crosses from seeds I've purchased from Gordo, but his one by far is the best. I would guess I've tossed at least half of my Chief seedlings because they have not been able to stay healthy, but the ones that do make it have been vigorous growers. I have several that are over 10 feet tall and have yet to bloom!

This seedling started blooming last fall and now has stabilized into a beautiful triple. The blooms start out a soft pink and age to a deep pink. As you can see, it loves the heat because this plant is growing in full sun here in Central Florida. Other seedlings from this same cross have been singles, mostly white to light pink.

This is a keeper for sure! Thank you Liz for making these seed available

Gorgeous Fred!

I just love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job Liz and Fred!

I must say, it sure is nice to get good news. After being besieged with broadmites and all Brugs reduced to a nude (but not lewd) state, seeing flowers is a relief. I know you sent me a chunk of this one a while back, Fred - but the mites chewed it to a nub. I have another new one I'd gladly swap with you in a few weeks - a salmony double - Adeline x Dola.

I do have good things to report. New leaves are coming, tiny buds forming and the plants are CLEAN!!!! WOO HOO!
If Forbid removed fat the way it does broadmites, I'd be soaking in a 50 gallon drum of the stuff right now.
Seriously, I highly recommend it.
