More or less water?

My daylilies have gone downhill (as the temps went up) the last few weeks. Is it from the heat? Do they need more or less water?

How often are you watering them? Mine look like death warmed over, but some of them will go dormant in the heat. Some are gearing up again and I've not been watering them daily, just every other day or so.

I've probably been watering them twice a week with the hoses. I might have given them a quick drink in between, but I really can't remember. They just seem to look worse than everything else tho.

Mine look horrible, too, but I think that's the nature of the beast when it comes to trying to grow daylilies in full Texas sun. The ones that are looking the best are the ones that get partial shade (or part sun depending on how you look at it), but even some of them look very raggedy. I think if you upped your watering they'd probably do better, but still look like they're near death until the weather cools off.

I am usually guilty of over-loving my plants so I've been trying to ignore their thirst except when they don't perk up after the sun starts to go down. I've also been trying to keep the water bill down, but think since it's much cooler today that I'll go give them a nice long drink and see how they react this week. ...unless someone says NO, it's too much water! ha
