CLOSED: ID help

It appears to be a Grosbeak of some sort, but nothing matches in the bird books. Seen on the North Side of Chicago, on the Weber Spur Trail, an abandoned railroad right of way, near the Edens Expressway, just south of LaBagh Woods.

I agree, male house finch - I've got droves of them.

Yours looks like he's been in a hurricane. Mine are not that "unkempt".
