Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I have some of the onion sets and would like to know if anyone wants some. Trade or postage.

Is it also known as the Egyptian onion?. If it is, they are delicious. I first saw them at a farmers market but do not see them anymore. Would they grow in a flower box in a window?.

Diane, I would love to have some. I lost mine when we moved. Anything you need?

I am very interested in what they look like,do you have a picture you can share.
I was given some onions that are strange I don't know how to use them, but find them
interesting. I did try to cook with them but they were tough little things.

Hi I decided to look on the internet to find Egyptian onions I just realize they look like mine. You said they taste good, my question is how in the world do you use them?
Thank You.

Are you trying to eat the top onions or the ones in the ground? I actually didn't eat them but I know that the ones in the ground are larger and more tender. The top ones form, then fall over and root in the ground, also becoming larger more tender onions. When they are on top of the plant, they are basically a seed onion if that makes sense? I imagine that would be like eating onion sets from the store.

I used the bottom parts for everything that I would use a regular onion for. When ever I run out of the cipollini onions I wish for the egyptian or walking onion. I found them to go well with meat and in soup and everything in between. Wish I had some to fry up right now. They also last a long time.

Hi I found them on e-bay, I asked the seller questions and she only uses the tops like green Onions
not the bulbs. She said she lets them continue to grow. I had decided it was a decorative onion only. I have not pulled them to eat, from what she said they sound some what like leeks.

These are wonderful onions. I grow mine in a garden that is right at the street. Couple of Saturdays ago, a man walking his dog stopped to ask me about them. Seems he got a couple of them that appeared in his yard and didn't know what they were. We've concluded that a neighborhood child must've gotten curious and taken a piece from one of the heads then tossed them into his yard...Now that's quite a 'walking' onion, lol!
Diane, glad to see you posting again:))

If any of you would like some on the this side of the USA, I have a few I would share for the cost of postage. I live in Spokane WA I would be willing to share on this side of the US. I have about 20 bulbs to share.
