I have a voodoo lily that I had to dig up and put in a tub when I moved last summer. I was unable to plant it so it got left in the tub. It put up the perfumed (?????) bloomstalk as usual. My problem was after that I was still unable to plant it (no beds in the shade - just sun). It got too much sun and just seemed to "freeze in time". It still has the bloom stalk ,with seed pod at the top, and that is all. That should be long gone by now, right ?? If it is dead ( I know it got too much sun and dried out at times, too) then why did the stalk not fall over? Can someone tell me how to tell if it is still alive after a year ????
thanks, guys. I love this thing and will hate it if I have lost it due to my move. It had been over 5 ft. tall the previous year !

is it dead ?
I see nobody's given you an answer, they're due to go dormant any time but I'd put it in a pot anyway to see if it would do anything. I've left a small one unplanted for a year and the tuber dried out & died.
Seeds do take a long time to mature. If the stalk hasn't fallen over I'd say it's still alive. There must still be something underneath to support the stalk. And you should be able to plant the seeds when they ripen anyway. Do you know which species it is?
It is standing now as at the picture? In the ground. I wouldn't worry then. How does the tuber look like? Is it still hard? Maybe it has made little ones? And otherwise safe yourself some seeds to be sure. Sowing them is easy!
