I love this vine. It is so nice and sunny. Really lifts your spirits. Here it is trailing down into a large birdnest Anthurium, also in bloom. Anyone else have pics to show of theirs??
Nong Nooch (Petraeovitex bambusetorum) in bloom
I can post a picture of mine tomorrow - they are so unique - love mine!
I adore the one I got from you! It's doing very well, and collecting drool from everyone who sees it! I'm going to New Orleans tomorrow - 40th birthday party debauche for my god-daughter - but I'll try for some pictures when I get back. How do you propagate it? I didn't see anything very specific when I looked it up, and I don't want to risk any hare-brained experiments on this beauty!!! Thanks again for a wonderful plant.
Helen
I bought mine as one huge hanging basket that had 3 plants in it. It was so rootbound that it was going to die in the pot it was in...it couldn't uptake water. So I split it into 3 separate plants in 3 baskets. That is where yours came from. I don't think I have seen seeds. So I would guess you would have to root cuttings
They stay in bloom for a good long time too.
I still haven't aquired it. I just admire it at Waynes..I have too many in waiting...and boy am I a bit sorry I grew that Hawaiin Wood Rose vine..I've never seen anything like it. It sprawls outward 360 degrees like a hunted rabbit. I am constantly chopping it. It has covered the entire green house..and I leave it alone up there as this is the 3rd year for the vine, which seems to be the magic number for blooming..If it doesn't, there's a nice red hawaiin Merrimia sitting right underneath it in a pot already waiting for it's spot!
Randy, can you post a picture of your RED Merrimia? Thanks! As I told you before, it you have plants you no longer want, I'd be happy to pay postage for them.
I have none, I just aquired it last week after spending an hour and half untangling it from Waynes large green house in 99F weather. It took a beating, I did see it blooming this spring...I don't even know the name of it..will have to catch up on that too.
What's its botanical name? I couldn't find any information on the red Merrimia.
I believe it is
Ipomoea horsfalliae
I keep calling it merremia because the leaf shape reminds me of the woodrose

OMG, another one for my 'lust' list! Thanks for the picture.
Sure, The vine is pretty robust for the flower size
