Oh how sweet. If i was a fairy I would go there too :) You are so talented. Do you just shop around for those? They go so well with your arrangements. My Mom used to put things in hers and she was so creative like you. I think the gene got misplaced cause I didn't get it lol. I still have a lot of her craft material.

I have an overdose of that gene, ha. My g.mother loved to arrange things and make her home so pretty. Mom does too, her home and garden are wonderful. I just love to photograph my violets with different fairies or things that make them even prettier. Just fun to do, especially with the heat outside. I cannot work in my yard. It is doing fine. We get everything done before the heat comes.

I buy things when I see them or online.

Mom could spot little goodies a mile away. She was a competitor. Her neighbor likes to collect things like that too. Mom would ask her to go shopping and then grab up something cute when there might be one or two available. Then she would rub it in on the neighbor all the way home. Hey, the neighbor did it right back. It was like watching two kids in adult bodies. Too funny!

That sounds fun!

Here is another one. Sunlit Sugar Plum is one of my favorites.

I have to pick my jaw up from the ground...just a minute please. Okay, I am back and intact. I don't know what to say and I am not usually speechless. WOW! Did you put something on those petals to make them sparkle like that? You need to open a business if you haven't already.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

There so cute Sally! Your AV's are beautiful.

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

those violet flowers sparkle all by themselves, i have had them, they are really pretty

Yep, Aspen, they sparkle by themselves. One wonderful thing about african violets! Ruffley leaves and sparkley blooms! LOVE 'em!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Amazing! Everything goes together so well.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have only a few avs blooming right now and one is Suncoast Lavender Silk..........her blooms have that shiny look.

Sally, I have a little angel I keep in my car from my grandchildren......They call her my guardian angel.

You do love to play with your african violets. I wished I would just play with mine, but I have this obsession of propagating with any extra leaf of anything ^_^

You can see I haven't mastered this photography thing.......as my hand is holding down the leaves!!

Uh, oh. Gail is going to start sending pics of her wonderful collection. You know when you all do this I can't get anything done around the house. I have to keep checking back to look at more beauties. Bring them on. I love the picture shows :)

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

The fairies just seem to go with AV's, don't they? Sally, Are those fairies part of a particular artist's collection? They are awfully cute!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Aren't those fairies just the best, Phoebe!!!!

aspenjocop.............I love traveling down memory lane.........only thing is I didn't start putting names on them until this year (LOL)

I bet Sally has some good ones.......with the right names...........

Aww, Sally, so cute! I love your little fairies. These look perfect with the flowers. I have quite a few angels and statues of the Blessed Mother around my house, that old catholic upbringing, just can't get away from it! But they do make me feel safe.

Somewhere online I saw something, maybe a blog?...about an AV group that got together one night for their meeting and the hostess provided pretty copper wire and glass beads so that they could all make "jewelry" for their violets, just a long wire with beads in whatever colors or styles you chose, some with dangles, etc., and then you would just poke the bare end into the soil. Really cute!

South, TX

That was me. I had my violet club meeting and we made pretty things for our violets in my dining room. Was fun and they are really nice! The crystal really looks great under the lights!

Did you post about it here? Maybe this is where I saw it. I really love them, might make some myself someday.

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

Sally, how did you make the crystal in the picture above?i would love to make some.

Sally will come back and give you specific details, but I recognize what she is using. I used to make jewelry with my sister in law and there are stores which sell the crystals.

South, TX

Jmp, yes, I did post about it here. I had to order most of the pieces and they are pretty hard to find. Copies of old beads. The lilly type flower on top and the moon shaped one on bottom. The seed beads that go from the cresent moon type leaves to the flower are easy to find at the bead stores. We have a really neat store here. The wire was there also. I cut the wire and shape it.

You can make dragonflies and angels etc. also. The wings can be found at beads stores.

Here is one I have in my vase in my Bluebonnet Beetle. Kind of hard to see. It is a Beetle charm and angle, purple and blue beads.

I can see it pretty well.

We have ALOT of bead stores around here, one of the perks of living within driving distance of very highly populated areas. I will have to look for the ones you mentioned.

South, TX

I found the place with the cresent leaves. I looked online a long time to find this site. These leaves are wonderful.

Look also at the glass flower beads. I love the trumpets. The pansies and others are great too. I topped the trumpets with a great crystal. Seed beads connect from the flower to the cresent at the bottom.

Sally -
those charms are lovely!!

I've always embellished my outdoor plants with little cute things, but never thought to do it to indoor plants!

Love it!...I want one! :0)

I saw a lot of cactus the other day at Lowe's.........if I had the time, I could really get into the Cactus family.........but don't. I think they are great looking.

That planter actually came from Lowes :0)

I'm not into the prickly stuff, but I sure do love the softer lines and colors of the succulents. This planter is one of my favorites, but I've got many more.

They are just so nice to have this time of year, when so many other things are choking and sputtering outside in the intense heat and sun.

You might get into them one day ;0) I didn't used to have an interest in gesneriads, either, lol

I love succulents too. Very soft and many colors! Your container is darling!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

me like succulents too!

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

ok, ...along the lines of plant decorations and embellishments, and such...

I went to the thrift store today, and had a blast.

Here are some of the goodies:

Yes, those snails are salt shakers, but just wait... ;0)

The turtle found a home decorating my terrarium.

I painted silly expressions on the snails with my paint pen that I use on my outdoor plant tags, and voila!~plant decor! hee-hee

I think they blend in really well!

also found a deer, and a bunny that looks very similar(probably by same company or artist), but picture is hazy

a teddy bear...maybe a gift container for a baby shower?

You found some cute things!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Great stuff! Where did you get those great containers?

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

same place, lol...the thrift store :0)

I go every week, just for grins, and find all sorts of stuff. It is fun for me, because it is like an airconditioned garage sale open every day of the week, lol...

plus, I can put anything in my basket my heart desires, and I know I can afford it LOL!!!!

Hubby asks how much I spent at the nursery every time, but never asks how much I spent at the thrift stores. :0)

There is a section of town that has three within a block of each other, and also an antique resale shop, so it makes for a fun afternoon.

Those glass jars were anywhere from 1.50 to 3.oo. The two largest ones being the 3.00 ones...

The succulent container came from Tuesday morning. It was 50% off.
