I think it's a silvery checkerspot - it looks like one, and they use purple coneflowers as hosts.
It makes a real pretty little butterfly - congrats!

My DGD and I rescued a Luna month in the Wal Mart parking lot yesterday. If I had ,had something to put it in,I would have brought it home and turned it loose in my yard.
