Common Streaky-Skipper (Celotes nessus)
Picture was taken on Crockett County,Texas Road 305, about 1/4 mile south of I-10. A favorite butterfly spot discovered last year by accident. The Streaky Skipper was a thrill to find. This is what makes butterfly photography so rewarding. The Streaky Skipper is small, wingspan from 7/8" to 1". Looks like crumpled up aluminum foil. All of the butterflies at this spot were puddling a residual damp spot where a stream bed crosses the County (dirt) Road. Will separately post a Dotted Roadside Skipper found at the same time. Both a first for me.
Others puddling there at the same time included a host of Reakirt's Blues.
