I have become friends with a lady that needed help in rescueing a puppy in a logging area. We got her and I saw immediately she was full grown and not a puppy. I also knew she was going to have pups or already had them. We took her to my vet and had her examined amd wormed and shots. She had already had the pups. We had to take her back there to keep the pups alive. Friend B found the pups a few days later as she always fed them on her way home from work. 2 of the pups were dead and 2 alive. Someone had moved some of the logs. B crawled into the logs and got the babies and took them to her vet. The little girl was OK but the little boy could not use his back legs. Her vet told her to put him down and not bother with him. She called me. I told her to bring me the baby and meet me at my vet's who has known me for 22 years. Of course my mouth had to say what I thought of her vet. She doesn't use him anymore. Now we are trying to catch momma and 2 young dogs, possibly babies from another litter. We've got to catch her, get her spayed, and find her a home. We have tried all kinds of things with food and the catch pen. B even bought wire and posts where ther was a wide opening they would go into for the food. Someone stole the wire and posts. The Humane Society for that area is of no help whatsoever. They're very good at being on TV and in the newspaper of all they do but I know personally differently. No Rescue groups have been able to help. B has received suggestions and offers of money and pens from a lady in California and we're in Alabama. She is really special. What suggestions might any of you have that have worked for you. I have never had one this difficult but we need to catch her and possibly find new puppies. She still won't let us touch her to see if she has milk or can feel babies. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. She has moved from under the logs down into a wooded and weeded area where snakes might be a problem. Thank you Lynn
