Here are the newest addition to my menagerie 5 Young Grey Calls and a Pair of Adult White.
These are show Quality and the White one in the pic below has been shown and the Grey's are all from show lines.

This is a little Male he is so cute with his little bill and he quacks very softly.

I forgot to mention i have 3 females and 2 males in the Grey

They are so cute! I had no idea Call ducks were that little. I finally figured out I will have Swedish ducks when I get some. I've talked to several people that have them and Khaki Campells (the other breed I was considering). They are excellent layers/foragers, and I think they are prettier than the Khakis.

I luv the speckles. Very prettiful Harmony.

Thanks Dahlia and Loreen i just love them

Loreen good choice on the Swedish or Khaki those are some nice breeds
My Cayuga's range and forage all day they even go in the woods and doodle under the fallen leaves and pine straw.

Bridgewater, ME

They are so cute, the white ones look like stuffed animals ,they don`t look real,do you have to have a special place with water for them to swim in?I know nothing at all about ducks.

(Zone 7b)

Green I'm using little containers like dish pans or you can use a large cat litter pan.
I will be moving them to their own pens with bigger swim containers i will get those at the feed store.
It's those large black plastic pans they use for horses and other animals.

They are fun to watch if you give them a deep enough container they will dive to the bottom of it.
We have a great time watching them play in the water :~)

I love the greys - they are just beautiful. I really love the blue stripe on the wing in that first picture. They have a very elegant look to them. I also like their size - my ducks are really too big.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

BEAUTIFUL. Love the ducks.

(Zone 7b)

Thanks Claire and Wren i just love them and their size is just perfect pet size.
I want to raise some and give them alot of attention so they will come to me and want some treats.
These have been raised as show ducks and were given very little personal attention.
The breeder had 150 Call Ducks in and array of colors i just wanted to take them all home LOL

I have this one egg and i'm thinking of putting it under a banty hen i have sitting on some fake eggs i was hopeing she would lay another one so i could put 2 or 3 under the hen.
Doe's anyone know if this would work?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I have had a Thai hen raise ducklings from my Pekins and Swedish and it worked perfectly! My ducks seem to lay every day or every other day so I think it should work if you can collect 2 or 3 eggs over a week and pop them all under the banty hen - maybe take out the fake eggs if there are too many eggs under there for her size!

(Zone 7b)

Thanks Claire i hate to waste the eggs and this banty has been on the fakes about a week waiting on me to get some eggs LOL
I broke open the egg the breeder gave me out of the pen and it was fertile had the little white spot on the yolk.
So i know they are fertile i hope she lays one today ;) I guess Calls are like bantys they lay every other day ( I'm new to all this)
Every site i visited they only gave info on the hatching not about how often they lay ........i will keep looking {:~)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Harm I may be able to come see you around Christmas. We are planing to go to my DS in Dallas, Ga. Am Hoping I can come and get pictures of your beautiful creatures.

(Zone 7b)

Okay Wren will do

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

There is no such thing as a 'too big' duck IMPO. All ducks are perfect.

(Zone 7b)

Oh i agree Dahlia my sons Rouens are big we talkin big and very beautiful.

At my house we have a chorus of different "Quacks" The rouens go "Quwack" very low and loud my Cayuga's go "Quwack" just a regular one now my pet Calls go "high pitched" "Quwack" real fast and finally my little Calls go "Squeeky" "Quwack"
So we hear Quwack Quwack Quwack in 4 different tones.
I told my DH we should train them to do it on cue we could really have a funny song LOL

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Quackershop Quartet! Ever Cool Harmony!

(Zone 7b)

It really is a "Quartet" every morning when i go to feed i get all the ones Quacking and the roos are crowing i swear i don't know how my neighbors put up with me LOL

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I love them! I want Ducks, but I have no clue how to take care of ducks! :(

(Zone 7b)

Melissa they are great pets and are easier than chickens to take care of really they are more hardier than chickens.
They will keep your yard bug free mine search all day for bugs and they don't scratch like chickens.

I use to have yard chickens but i had to give them away because of all the poop it was everywhere and i have a huge yard and they did it on my porch.
My ducks i can't even find their poop and they come to the house and doodle all around it.

They don't get sick like chickens and they are also way more intelligent than chickens and they will learn quickly to go back into a pen at night.
FUN :~) to watch in a pool just fill it up and sit and laugh as they dive and jump out and fly back in.

But if caged they are very messy and that turns folks off about them but free range they are really cool pets.
I have never had ducks till this year and you know what i kick myself for not trying them sooner ( don't tell anyone but i like my ducks more than my chickens)

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Harmony,

That's why I have opted for ducks over chickens. The research I've done says what you just said about ducks versus chickens. I want some now but we just aren't ready so I will have to be satisfied hearing about other people's ducks and seeing all the pics (yes, I love hearing about everyone's chickens too). Glad I decided to check out this forum, lots of nice people here.

(Zone 7b)

Thanks Loreen and i hope you can get some ducks they are really great pets :~)

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

hmmmm you're making me think hard Harmony!

(Zone 7b)

Now i don't want anybody getting ducks because of little ole me Ha~Ha~Ha i do love mine tho.

I'm going to put in and order for some "pastels" with the breeder i got these from the pastels are so pretty.
Now there i go talking about ducks again LOL :~)

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

My son got some call duck eggs from ebay and hatched one. It's spotted black and white. Is there a name for this kind of call duck? I will have to take a picture and post but thought someone could tell me what kind of call duck it is. He said that the lady that sold the eggs to him didn't give him a name for the breed, just call duck. Little Puddles probably would like to have a friend instead of the Pekin ducks that he runs around with, so I wondered if anyone could tell me so I could try to find him some buddies for next year.
Thanks
Ruth

According to "Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds", Call Ducks come in six currently recognized colours: Blue, Buff, Grey, Pastel, Snowy (which is actually somewhat spotted with greyish, brownish and violet highlights) and White. But the author adds that "breeders are working on a number of additional colours", so I guess there is a lot of natural variation.

I think Little Puddles would probably love any other colour of Call Duck--they are definitely delightful looking.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I think your fayoumi would like a call duck friend, Catscan.

Lodi, United States

Ummmmm. Aren't they just a might NOISY! Not that I mind that--and I do have a small pond--but my DH is just little aurally sensitive...and I'm not talking colours.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh, he'll get over it. My animal rescue league has a pair of peacocks right now that I'm still considering....sort of....they are a lot worse than call ducks....

I know, make him knitted earplugs....I have just the yarn....

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

There is so many different colors of the Call it is hard to keep up with. Maggi and I had at least 12 colors but are now down to just the Anconas and Marbles. I am getting some new ones from Arkansas to freshen the blood. Calls are so much fun.

Whoa! Kenboy....you are the Call Master!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

awwwwww look at the cutieputie stripey, dotty, spotty baby ones awwwwwwww

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Hopefully my picture of Puddles will attach. (He's the short one!!) ;)
I looked at your ducks, kenboy, and he doesn't match anything. Nice ducks, by the way. I hope to get more eggs next year so Puddles has a friend. We got 15 eggs on ebay and 7 were cracked in the box and Puddles was the only one that hatched. DS had him in the house following him around. He brought him out to the farm as he couldn't fence him outside in town because of all the cats. He's always the first one out of the barn and heads right to the puddle. He must be a mix of quite a few breeds. Thanks for putting up the pictures.
