Easy Homemade Butter Recipe

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

I was reading another thread about margarine vs butter, and the consensus is that butter is better and tastier. So, I have a recipe that is easy peasy to make your own homemade butter. Use Heavy Whipping Cream and beat it with your mixer, fast speed, until it starts to hold together in clumps and looks like butter. After it reaches the stage where it is really looking thick and yellow, pour off all the water in the bowl and add fresh water to rinse the newly made butter. After draining--use a spoon and mash as much water out as you can, Keep pouring the water out as it accumulates. When you can express no more water, it's ready. This water that's left on the butter can cause the butter to spoil, so make sure you rinse and drain well as much as needed. Then you can add salt to taste or not. You can also add herbs, fruits, citrus juices, etc. to make a butter spread for sandwiches, steaks, bread etc.
