Un known weed
It looks like some type of Thistle, but can not tell which.
Josephine.
Thanks josephine i kinda thought so too but the sap is NOT milky and it has a strong but not unpleasant odor,What ever it is it just is I plan to let it mature just too find out . with my luck it will mature while I am gone someplace and produce a million seeds LOL
Maybe a wild Lettuce?
That is my main thought about it but it is really a large one if it is it is close to being 3 feet tall and the leaves are 6-8 inches long Joseph
It will be interesting to see what it is.
It's Burnweed (Erechtites hieraciifolia).
Don't tease us like that Baptisia give me a little bit more ,then I promise I will go look it up...
It's a native annual. I typically see it in open woodlands, corrals, road ditches, other places like that. It will get pretty big under good conditions, maybe over 10 feet tall. The flowers are yellow, but not very showy. The seedheads sort of resemble those of a dandelion. I wouldn't call it a weed, but it's not something most people would grow as an ornamental either.
Thanks I can now subject it too the attention of the weedeater,,I had never saw this plant before and everyone I showed it too had the same reaction ..Looks like the seeds must have been brought by birds or maybe the wind ..Joseph
the burnweed has been done away with thank You Baptisia
