Great photo! I tend to forget when reading The Secret Garden or the Narnia books that a robin in England looks so different than our American Robin!

Do European Robins go after earthworms as well as insects? American Robins are great earthworm hunters, and it's such a hoot to watch them patiently battle a big nightcrawler, tugging it bit by bit from its burrow.

What a beautiful bird and a great photo! Interesting that it's a banded bird. You might try to get more pictures to see if you can read the numbers on the band and report it.

Yes, but only small ones. That hawkmoth is actually an exceptionally large prey item for a Robin, I'm surprised it was able to cope with it.
