Hummingbird Moth, Common Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe)
Beautiful picture Kathy. The first time seeing one of those I thought it was a "pumped-up" bee, then later learned what it really was. They also like the hummingbird feeders.
Thank you, bugme, but the photo credit goes to DH (I only did the research.) As we watched this little guy zip around the flowers, I asked where his camera was. This is the ONLY shot that turned out as DH was having trouble keeping him in frame long enough to take a photo! I don't have a hummingbird feeder, but there are plenty of natural food sources for hummingbirds in the neighborhood; we see the little jewels now & again.
