A few convention pictures
Oh my goodness ... that first photo is stunning but that second one makes me want to start collecting Petrocosmea's! I had one little one for about 1 1/2 years and it did nothing, very slow grower ... I traded it away!
Ok ... telling myself *** "No More Plants, No Room, No More Plants!" ***

I think some of these pictures Jan took with my camera, I don't remember taking so many pictures.
Have to go watch TV but will look for more pics tomorrow.......thank you ladies!!!
It might take you a while to get seed. There was a table at the plant sales room where they were selling the seed fund seed and I would say by the looks of that table Saturday afternoon, it is pretty much depleted. That is good news because that means the new seed will be fresh.
I have been spending the past hour at the Petaltones website, reading, reading and reading! Some really great information, thank you so much for the link Jan!
Oh my goodness, you ladies Rock!
Thank you both for sharing these wonderful photo's! I have loved Chirita's since I first heard of them in 2006. I still have a couple and looking at all these pictures has me planning on taking better care of my plants! I LOVE the Chirita Louisa and Elise! Great looking plants. And, I'm really, really wanting to order a few Petrocosmea's now too! ^_^
That Chiritoptis plant is really cool looking ... like it a lot! I haven't seen Key's Flckr photo's - am going to check them out in a bit, I know they will be awesome!
Looking forward to more of this tour ladies!
WOW! Love the leaves and blooms on that one!
Did Mauro have any of his seed from Brazil? I looked at his site and he has some new seeds available this year. I am excited about ordering from him. In particular, I can't seem to get a chirita libonesis from LLG, but i did see seed from Mauro.........I love the species chiritas.........(and hybrid of course, too)
If you find anymore pictures from the convention, we will be very excited......
I don't know, all the seed was at the seed fund table. The little labeled seed envelopes were stuck to posterboard on a tabletop and you took what you wanted and they would write you a check-out receipt for the total. If you asked for something, and it wasn't on the table, the attendee would look thru a couple boxes behind her and pull out an envelope if it was there. ALL the seed was at that one table. Every plant had an extra pull out label that listed the item price and the initials of who was to be paid for the plant. Unless you knew them, like KS was Kathy Spissman, you don't know whose plant it was...I am assuming it was the same with the seeds in those boxes behind the scenes. I would say most all the people there were very experienced gesneriadiers and would know what to ask for. There were only a few of us newbies.
I have a meeting next month about the DAVS convention, should be sometime in March I think, but the national AVSA Convention is in the spring too, Apr 11-18, in Releigh, so I don't know how that will affect the Dixie attendance. tish
Thanks for all the information, Tish.........
Yes, that would be hard competing with everyone over initials..........
I love her new ones but I haven't seen the white on or the purple one in the middle........great looking streps........all of them! Thanks
Gail, those are the only ones she has of those! She said she took some leaves before she left home in case something happened to them. She still has to grow more generations to see if they stay small and keep the bloom. She gave a seminar on hybridizing the smaller streps and that was her show and tell! Shes a very good speaker! -tish-
Ok and thanks. I knew that if anyone would be growing her new ones, our club president would be and I knew she didn't have them. That is great news that she will be growing them out agin.............would love to hear her speak.
You know that, although she doesn't live in Texas anymore, we still claim her! (LOL)
