Self watering pots

Litchfield Park , AZ(Zone 9b)

I received some African Violets for Mother's Day and they need to be replanted. I saw some double, self-watering pots and I am wondering if these are a good choice. It would certainly eliminate getting the leaves wet. I am a newbie to African Violets.
Thanks,
Dee

I want to warn you that they will hold too much water in the soil. African Violets like to be DAMP, not wet. More violets die from too much water than not enough. If you have had them since Mothers Day, you are doing good. If you repot, you will need to buy a bag of Perlite sold at home depot, lowes, sometimes walmart and add that to your repotting mix. I do grow some in the ceramic two piece planters, my aunt makes them, but you need to add the perlite and watch they do not get too wet, not fill the water resouvour up all the way and let it dry out between waterings some. If you get water on leaves, just dry it off with a paper towel or tissue but be sure you dont get standing water in the crown of your plant, that will cause rot of new growth. AV's are easier than a lot of people think. Less water is more. Welcome to our group! tish

Your Yukako looks great Bonnie! Mine is just a baby. What is that huge variegated leaf to the right of Concord?

Thanks to all. I emptied out most of the water as I think my plant were getting too much. Some of the flower stems were getting mushy and dying. So far the leaves all look good and strong. Hopefully they will put up new flowers.
