I saw 12 of these roosting in a tree this morning while fishing.
Swallow- Tailed Kites..
Amazing to see 12 at one time! That must have been a sight.
Fantastic! I have only seen one flying a few times....they are so neat.
Very nice..they have been staying in this area for a few years now..Last year there were 9 of them.
Great Shot's! Is this the bird that just eats snails right?
Nope, that's Snail Kite - different species.
Resin
That is great Chuck! I saw my first ones this May when 3 were flying around Cape May.
Snail Kite look's like it could take out a rabbit, all that muscle for a snail. lol
Thanks folks,
Wow, I've never seen one of these and you've got so many. Great find!
My next bird I want to get for you folks is a Yellow Crowned Night Heron..I see alot of birds when I fish. The Audubon folks told me I must be seeing a different bird because it doesn't reside in our area in the summer.;basically calling me a liar. LOL
So I told one of the head leaders, "Jump in my boat and I will show you a nest of them." He was shocked and agreed. They have now changed our local checklist for this species to resident. LOL
I saw one the other day but had forgotten the camera.
