it's amazing the variety of colors you have in Dark Nebula, she's beautiful. It looks like Newport Beach has 3 or more blooms on the plant? I love how the colors seem to radiate out from the center of the blossom. (I know there must be a word for the "center of the blossom"?) Beautifu & great job!

Thanks and you're right on Newport Beach, triplets! One on each third of the plant so that you face a bloom from any direction :-)

Nice.. I like them both.. I might have to get Newport Beach since I'm from there.

Nice Dee. Dark Nebula is movin up the list. Debbie, we just refer to the coloration around the center of the bloom as the "eye". Therefore, "Dark Nebula" would have a "red eye".

Jon, Newport Beach was a recent purchase from Orchard Supply Hardware...around $5 for a one gallon pot :-)

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

Very pretty Dee!!!

Nice blooms!

BTW my OSH had a couple of the Bahama Bay plants too, Rum Runner and Hawaiian Sunset in the 2 gal size. Now might be a good time to check your local stores :-)

Newport Beach looks so tropical and it reminds you of beach resorts.

It does! I took that photo on Tuesday evening and today, Friday, all three blooms are still on the plant looking fresh.

And Jon, I lied, the 1 gal was $6.99. Just found my receipt...sorry. Hope you got some plants anyway.

Ok, question. I know everyone says to pinch off the buds on small plants and I get that...but how small is small? My poor Dark Nebula is a tiny thing as you can tell from the photo above, it is all bloom the 6" stick of a plant is hidden by the flower. She has another bud on her and I guess I should pinch it off so she can put her energies into growing instead of flowering. But, at what point is it okay to let these gals go to town?

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks for the info Dee

I struck out at osh but is a good thing as I did a plant count over the weekend and I'm up to 106 with 20 more on the way. I'm starting to get a bit overwelmed with the amount of work I have to do on the weekends but its all worth it.

Emerald Hills, CA(Zone 9b)

oooo 106 with 20 more on the way! where are you finding 20 more to get????

Disputanta, VA(Zone 7a)

...inquiring minds want to know. lol (me too)

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

I'll bet I know where "the other Jon" is getting them. LOL

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll bet I know too.

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey Jon,
He has some nice stuff. I think it's all grafted but I am not sure. Soooo, What did you get from them????? huh huh huh c'mon tell us all.... LOL I may want to get some wood (LOL)

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

This Jon doesn't have any from unbelievable hibiscus. I think California Jon has a few though...or a ton of them. LOL

Nederland, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Jon,

(LOL) I know paczona has them. I just figured you had some too and were holding out on us (LOL) I have a friend in dallas that ordered a few. I think they were $25 or $30 a 6" pot not really sure though. I know he has the tahitians. I need more hibbies like I need an extra hole in my head right now. LOL I've got more than 200 left to plant. I'm gonna get a (auger post hole digger) and put it on my tractor then punch the holes all on a row. The lazy way to dig holes LOL

LOL. It's the "Awesome Auger". Get it right!!! LOL I refuse to let the collection get past 60. Jaws needs room to roam in the back yard. When the collection gets too close to 60 she starts "showing me teeth". You don't mess with that girl.

Huber Heights , OH(Zone 5b)

Hi Robert,

Randy Cox sells the tahitian varieties also, I know of about 10 different ones that they sells and I think he has more also they just are not ready yet.

Wow,

I had to leave town for a few days and was just able to get on a pc. I posted the info for Unbelivable Hibiscus on a thread I started a few weeks ago. They are mostly grafted but I have bought around 15 or so that are on thier own roots.
