CLOSED: RE: Can you grow Verbena from cuttings?
I have successfully grown Creeping Vervain (Verbena Canadensis) from cuttings. I would imagine it's the same for most if not all verbena. Was very simple to do. I cut a 4 -6 inch stem. removed all but the top twp leaves, pinched off any new growth between those leaves at the top. Trimmed the stem to just below a leaf node, dipped in root hormone and potted in a good potting mix and kept moist.
I do the same as Cue - just stick them in a glass of water or moist soil and they root.
Simple layering will also do the trick. If they creep to the ground most likely some of those stems already got roots on them. If theyre upright you can bend a stem to the ground, cover a section with soil and it will root by itself.
Otherwise like previously mentioned you can stick them in a glass of water or use a rooting hormone.
I do softwood cuttings in soil and get 100% most of the time. I have Verbena canidensis homestead purple. Its one I consider the easier ones to do
