Papaya Diseases

I am attempting to grow a Carica Papaya and would like to know how to indentify dieases such as Dieback and Mosaic. Originally I planted the tree in the ground and it performed poorly so I transfered it to a large pot. It has improved a little but now I'm wondering if it might be diseased.

Hi, Mike! I've not grown papayas, but know people who have. Here's an article from Purdue University (one of several schools here that do excellent botanical research) that has an extensive description of papaya problems. Didn't find specific references to New Zealand but maybe these clues will help. Yuska
