budgielover.
They are Aloc.Marc. Variegated.
Some of the leaves will come out green.
I've over fertilized some and turn then all green, but they
start to come back variegated in time.

Do you keep yours in pots or in the ground?

Gainesville, FL

You can plant them into the ground easily in 9B. I have them in the ground and have had them in the ground for over 10 years here in 8B.

Over time these can get to 6 ft and form a very large trunk. Very impressive.

I got my first start years ago from a friend who saw one single plant with a single variegated leaf showing in a bunch of regular green A. macrorhizza at a plant show. She snapped it up for $3, propagated it, and shared it with me. I have been growing it ever since. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay? Here, on the rare occasions you can find it, a 6" pot goes for between $14-20

Gothqueen,
I'll dmail you.

budgielover,
I have them in pots and planted in ground inside greenhouse. In my zone 8,even in grnhouse they go dormant in winter and they only come back as tiny little plants. Time they get big it's winter again. At the show i bought four plants for $30.00 each, in 2000.
If i was only able too have two tropicals it would be the Variegated
Alo.Mac. and Variegated EA-EA Banana and oh yes the Alo.Big Blue.

I bought two of these plants today, they are tiny little things with just two leaves each. How much sun do you give them?

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Shade to dappled sun is good. No full sun.
