How long till fertile eggs?

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

We had been without a rooster for several months so I'm sure none of the eggs were fertile until I bought a nice white Silky bantam rooster the end of May. How long do I need to wait before I can count on a large percentage of the eggs being fertile from this new rooster? I would like to start setting eggs under the hens who are setting(or is it sitting)and would make good mothers.

After you witness the deed.. I think a couple of days... but I waited 5 days which was torture..

If you open eggs, look for the white bullseye.. if it's there.. it's fertile.

Yeah, but what good is a fertile egg thats opened??? Gotcha ZZ's

Really what's important is to ask how many pullets do you have in with the Roo? If four or five almost any will be fertile after five day's , otherwise as ZZ's said you have to witness the deed!! DEED!!! Cant we just say mating?LOL Haystack

Thanks, I'll start setting a few 7 candle them in a week or so. You can tell by them if there is a chick forming. Over half of the hens are broody by now.
