I've been holding out for many weeks.....but I couldn't take that pitiful call of the Meyer Lemon Tree at Lowe's anymore. It jumped in my car. Where am I going to put it in my HOUSE this winter????

The Lemon Tree Won
You can keep it at my house!! LOL!! Both of my girls are moving to the east coast in August..Will have lots of spare rooms! . Sure miss having a lemon tree! Meyers are the best! Always had those and beautiful asparagus ferns when I lived in CA. Brought them up to Oregon and left them outside and they are only a memory now!! Live and learn as the saying goes!
Good luck with your lemon tree!.
give it a seat at the table - a real conversation starter!
Good Idea Katye, I think it would make a great center piece. And it could be decorated with lights, garland or tinsel for the holidays.
When one lacks a Greenhouse, one resorts to all types of shenanigans: Lemon tree at table WITH place setting!
I am reserving it a chair now....
" That? It's my Christmas lemon tree. What you never heard of one?"

lol - no costumes, though...
WHA???? no costumes???
ok - a hat.
Maybe a string of pearls would look nice!
And a big red bow. lol
She will need a tree skirt! LOL!
I bought as seedless lime one a few years ago and it went gangbuster after I repot it and I've had to repot it again, but this time it's in a pretty large container, so I am good for a while. I got flowers last year spring, but fruit did not stay on for long. I did not get flowers this spring because we had extremely cool weather until late May.
I also have a lemon tree that my cousin started from seeds. The seeds were from a huge lemon in Italy. They stayed at some fancy place and it had huge lemon trees there. It was beautiful. Anyway, that tree is pretty big this year and I'm going to have to repot it next year.
I am tempted to put it in the ground.
I have lots of beads from Vegas... I think it would look great in those!

Mardigras!
One of those Meyer Lemon Trees got loose and jumped into my cart last week. It has one little lemon (looks like a lime) on it. How big of a pot should it go into now? Do I keep it outside and bring it into GH for the winter? Mine looks smaller than yours.
Lynn - the Meyer Lemon MIGHT survive, but I wouldn't chance it. I believe they are hardy to about 20°. I would plan on keeping it inside from November through March in the most brightly lit spot you have. As far as pot size - how tall/wide is the plant, & what size container is it in now? they don't like cold & wet...

You would need to look at the tag - there is a "hardy Meyer's Lemon", too. However, i would err on the side of caution & bring it in for the winter.
I went to a plant exchange last year in N. Georgia area and she had one growing in the ground. I was thinking about putting one of mine in.... I don't know... I don't know....
I have had one for a few years, keep it in the greenhouse over the winter. Haven't had time to repot it, so it is way overdue. Do find that it attracts bugs a little more than some of the other stuff, so if I spray it I wouldn't consider trying to taste the lemon. It is still fun and I bet it will do a lot better in a bigger pot.
Use your Meyer Lemons to infuse olive oil.
I have done this.... it is AWESOME. I use it on lots of things. It makes THE BEST salad dressing. I mix it with a little mayo and garlic.
Here are the instructions to make the olive oil. (A great gift too)
