We had a new bird at our feeder. It was similar to a cardinal but the color was more orange than red. He was bigger than a cardinal and with a longer tail. No top knot and his beak was like a cardinal's only heavier. The next day he came back and brought his Mrs. with him. She was a little smaller than the male with the drab colors.
CLOSED: New bird at our feeder. Need help to identify.
Maybe summer tanagers?
Got a copy of Birds and Blooms in the mail yesterday. Had a story on summer tanagers. Pictures look pretty close to what we have. Only difference I could see was the beak in the photo didn't look as orange or as heavy as the birds we are seeing. I tanagers are the bird. Thanks for posting. Jim
