Thunderstorm :-((

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Knocked out my home internet access yesterday, not sure when it'll be restored. At the public library today for a quick visit.

Just in case anyone has been wondering at my lack of posts!

Ditto on the bird i.d. forum, I don't have access to my books and this library needless to say doesn't have a decent set of bird books, so I can't answer as well as normal :-(

Thanks all!

Yeah, welcome back.

Look at how crazy it got here in such a short time. I did like the red-jay though, or is it a card-jay?

Yes, but leave out the coffee.

Resin, glad to see you're back. "The Devil made me do it". But, I suppose those things could happen in millions of years of evolution.

Did the storm blow in any unusual birds ?

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

:-))

Nothing very out-of-the-ordinary, but did get Green Sandpiper and Greenshank for my 2009 list the next day, they had probably stopped to avoid the heavy rain while migrating.

More unusual, a couple of days before the storm, some sea fog blowing in off the coast brought a Roseate Tern to a local pond just 4˝km from home, the first time I've ever seen a Roseate Tern inland rather than on the coast. It must have got caught up with some Common Terns that were returning to their nests after fishing at sea (they breed on this pond).
