aerial roots?

Pittsburgh, PA

I just peeked at my DL cuttings for the first time since I potted them up on Friday, and all but one are growing long white aerial roots....hopefully this means soil roots are either forming, or will form shortly...does anyone know if there's a connection between aerial roots and soil roots?

Thanks ...

I personally think there is. I, for one, don't disturb my potted up cuttings to check for roots. Once they have aerial roots, I take them to the next stage of the rooting process (unseal the bag to give them air circulation). The only problem with this, is that some cuttings don't produce aerial roots (patella, retusa are two I can think of). So, I just give those a extra week or so and assume they've had enough time to produce some kind of root.

Thanks Christine---now I'm excited!! I guess I'll go home and open up the top of those plastic bags tonight....
