Blue Jay's are very smart. We have an upside down suet feeder to try (note, try) to discourage Starlings. A few still get under there. But we have one Blue Jay that has mastered hanging upside down on it and can hang there for 30 seconds or so before falling off. I see others trying it because this one does but they haven't mastered it yet. Industrious little bugger. :)
