I think these are House Sparrows, like I saw outside McDonald's the other day. These are below one of my feeders.
Based on my Stokes book, the male is a real "looker"
But all I'm seeing are girls.
PS, I'm really enjoying my new Panasonic FZ28. I took these from about 25 yds away,

What you're seeing is "mothers and kids" - the young ones (both sexes) look the same as the adult females until they're a few months old. The males are keeping a lower profile at this time of year as they're moulting; they're also a bit drabber in non-breeding plumage. By next spring you'll be seeing about half-and-half males and females.
