Cajun Delta Rose

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I've been waiting 4 days for this one to open,it has been at this stage now 5 days,I'm afraid the flower bud will drop before opening.
Has anyone had any experience with this hibbie,or a pic of one in flower?

Sorry I can't help you with a picture of it, but I can sure relate to how you feel about waiting for a bud to open and worrying it will drop off before you get a chance to see what it's going to look like. I'm a newbie to tropical hibbies and I have purchased about ten plants in the last couple of months. I still have two that have buds that are fixing to open for the first time and I'm just praying the buds won't fall off. I so want to see what the flowers will look like. Let's keep our fingers crossed and see how it goes.

I'm with you,I had to go out and water early today, have to take my wife Patti,to the eye doc for her check up from eye surgery 6 weeks ago, she's battling Glaucoma, and they did surgery with Laser to relieve the eye pressure from the back of her eyes, anyway the flower bud is so large compared to 2 1/2 ft size plant,if it does open I'm afraid it will pull the plant over on it's side!!!LOL
Almost feel like a new parent again!!!!LOL

You said it alright, well worth it, it is gorgeous, love that magenta color it has, not a common color.

Well I really hate paying 20 bucks for a little seedling, but this fairly new greenhouse in town, seems to get newer varieties, dosen't look much like the pic on the tag, maybe it's not what they say it is?
Or I've been using a lot of fish emulsion, don't know if that has anything to with the colors, but it sure smells for a day or too!

That is a beauty; love it. I have used fish emulsion on coleus and it is supposed to bring out the colors in the coleus so I would think it might do the same with hibbies. I know most plants sure do seem to like FE.

My wife gets mad, because she doesn't like the smell It last for hours, especially when there is no wind to move it out!!!

That color is magnificent. Worth waiting to see that beauty.
