That sure looks to me like Agave americana... too blue-grey for fransozinii, the teeth are too far apart (Agave fransozinii usually has closely spaced teeth) and a plant that large should have drooping leaves if it was an Agave fransozinii. i know it's in a northern climate which perhaps would make the plant look different than it does here in So Cal...but not THAT different.

when you click on that page, look at the second photo showing Agave frasoziniis next to a larger Agave americana... the color is a bit off, but look at the leaf shapes.. note A fransozinii's drooping and americana stiff.

Hi PalmBob. I got your email and already emailed Joan to switch them. Thanks for you help in getting the correct ID.

I actually looked at Agave americana as well as Agave franzosinii when I got it down to just those 2 possibles. I finally decided on Agave franzosinii mainly because of your photo here. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/233672/ Shows you what I know.

Sometimes I think I should save lots of my time and not look at countless google pics trying to do IDs and just ask you. LOL. But I hate to bug you too much.

yes, that is a young plant. And that, too, was based on someone else's ID.. .but after seeing my own plant mature, I don't doubt it too much. Still, that one does not have the typical whiteness, but it does have the closely spaced teeth. Probably some variation in plants, and would like to see that one I photographed once it's much older.

The photos have been moved. Thanks!
