I lost my Dr. Suess last year and decided to buy another to replace it, since it was such a great performer for me. When I received the plant the laves were smooth--not serrated! It was about 2' tall and only had a few leaves. I have watched it and none of the leaves are coming in serrated. Have I been a victim of ebay fraud once again?

Dr Suess
My Dr seuss leaves are serrated and these are at least 4 years old. They keep coming back. I keep reading ebay fraud.Google Dr seuss and see yourself the picture. Bellieg
Maybe fraud, but also could be an honest mistake. There were a lot of mix ups, even with professional nurseries out here between Charles Grimaldi, Dr. Seuss and Hetty Kraus (spelling?) That's why we prefer to call them NOID's if there's ever a doubt, and not doing picture ID's. Someone saying "it looks like...." being wrong, and having the person they told pass it down as what they told them it looked like.
Confusion reigns in the Frosty Pink and look-alike area too.
I have just checked my Dr Seuss and it has had three bloom periods so far this year. The new leaves are smooth, the older leaves are serated. I hope that helps you. P.S as the leaves get larger they become serated.
The Dr Suess I had originally had serrated leaves from the beginning when it had rooted and started growing.. The cutting was from above the Y and it bloomed within 3 months. I may be wrong but I do not think this plant Is Dr Suess by any stretch of the imagination.
Have you contacted the seller?
They may have a plant they think/have been told is Dr. Seuss. I'm not sure it would be fraud.
I just checked my Dr seuss and it has serrated leaves. You will be able to tell when it flowers.
He claims he got it from a grower and I am the one who is mistaken - he will not even look up images of Dr Suess as I suggested and when I sent him one image of the leaves of Dr Suess and said whoever had that plant and claims it is Dr Suess is lying!
I hope this may help you ...

Scroll down, and see how different blooms can look depending on conditions. Leaves may also look different because the above the Y leaves often are different.
I hope you can enjoy the plant you got, or find it a good home and put this behind you. It's not worth staying upset for too long. Peace.
mistressgardenr,
Who was the seller? It helps to know who to avoid.
I am not going to worry about it--I will see what the blooms looks like and if it is similar to one of the ones I have I will find it a new home. I just hate having sellers on ebay that are untrustworthy. There are getting to be too many unreputable sellers, not only on brugs!
Bettydee--I am d-mailing you with the sellers name.
Thank you all for your help.
