Just a quick Aroid Note

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

I just received word that Julius Boos a valued contributor to both International Aroid Society and Aroid l was diagnosed earlier this week with Pancreatic cancer.
It appears his prognosis is not good.

If you have done any serious study of Aroids you know his name well.
If you're an Aroid fan you have for sure run across many of his scientific papers or descriptions of new species probably w/o knowing who authored them.
Google Julus Boos Aroid and you will be amazed at what he's done for furthering knowledge of the Araceae family of plants.
Keep him in your hearts and if you've a mind too your prayers.

Ric,

Yes, I read this on the Aroid-l.

Very sad to me. That is how I lost my dad, so
naturally I was at a loss for words.

I know how the rest of his time will be.

He is a giant in this field.

Julius is a very good friend of mine and one of the first people who helped introduce me to aroids. With out him I don't believe my interest in aroids would lead me to were I am today. His amazing story telling and his enthusiasm rivaled mine and he had been doing this stuff for years. It was amazing to see someone so motivated and excited when most of the collectors had lost a lot of their mojo Julius had plenty to spare. His stories of collecting and finding a certain aroid where so fantastic I would listen for hours with unusual accent and his outrageous humor. I pray that he is doing well and that he can over come this. My prays are with him.

Here he is posing with Cyrtosperma Merkusii this was one of his favorite groups of aroids.

Thanks for the Photo Brian.
I knew he was one of your early mentors.
