I know nothing about growing garlic but that sure looks like Leaf Rust. From what I've read, remove and dispose of the infected leaves immediately. A Fungicide should help stop the spread as well.

Yes, I agree... after checking images on the net of rust, that is indeed what it is. Bummer...

Too make sure it is a rust and not from a nutrient deficiency or from some other ailment. Take you a paper towel, piec e of toilet paper or whit enapkin and rub the infecte d leaves. If orange come s off on the tissue it is a rust. Puccinia.

Usually the rust come s from too much waterign and high humidity.

You need to watch cuz if it is rust, evry time the widn blow s or while you are tryign to remov e ifnecte d leave s thos e spore s are gonan be blowign all aroudn on you and plants and groudn and wil just continue to infect over and over. Only sur e fire way to get rid of rust is when you have a cold freezign spell. Even them if it not cold enough temps, the spore s will continue to live down in tiny crevises as logn as ther e is a green part of life available for it.

There is a good chance that it won't affect yoru garlic bulbs itself. But no guareentees. depens on how far down and how bad the sporolation population is.

I would take a trash bag out with you, and hold it clos e to each plant and cut down as far as you cna the tops of the leave s that all bad. Burn the bag afterwards and make sur e ya wash yoru clothe s good and don't carry the spore s to other part sof yoru garden.

Then woudl treat with fungicide, but at this stage of game, probably to late. let up on the water and when ya do water, water in the morning and water down at the base of the plants. Dont spray across top of plants cuz all you will do is spray mroe spore s around.

You can use a milk spray to get rid of the rust. Then, sprinkle horticultural cornmeal and/or dry powdered garlic on the ground to help deter the rust.

Fill your adjustable hose end sprayer with milk, set the dilution to 3 ounces per gallon, and hose it down. Do that every other week. I would not expect immediate results (typical for organic solutions), but I would expect results. Give it 21 full days to cure it.
