...just don't post if you don't care for his music. My eight year old called me from her grandparents sooo upset because she really thought I would be so sad. I, like most people will try to remember him for his glory days and what he accomplished in his prime. I am going to miss his voice

I will miss Michael Jackson...You can laugh if you want
Not laughing at all.
I spent last night watching his music videos .. I taped them when they were released on MTV .. I have the original Black or White before it was edited to take out all the "naughty bits".
He was an amazing child and man .. as awful as it is to think it, he probably wouldn't have been so amazing if he had been normal. Like Elvis, he will leave an indelible mark on the world with his music.
My absolute favorite is Smooth Criminal.

I am still in shock that he is gone. But you know, I always thought something like this would happen to him. Since I am only two weeks older than he, this really puts stuff in to perpective, and is probably why I am so stunned by his death.
I spent most of last night watching the videos on tv, and they just awamaze me. I'm still trying to figure out how they leaned over like that in the Smooth Criminal video. LOL
He was strange, but most geniuses are/were.
My kids love his music, especially my oldest. He always tried to moonwalk, but just couldnt get it right.
The other day, I was cleaning out a closet, and in one of the boxes there was a special edition fold out cd cover with the cd of "Dangerous". Very cool. It's a pop up and has all sorts of 3D effects. I was considering placing it on eBay......but not now. My (almost moonwalking 24 yo son) had placed it on the shelf in his room.
RIP Mike
Here is the answer to how they did it

I find the truly saddest about Michael Jackson and his demise is
a) how and why his childhood was "lost".
I thought there were laws to protect child entertainers (from the ShirleyTemple, etc days) but No - we have michael and even
Macaulay Culkin - both childhood stars who were over-worked.
b) how and why ANYONE would DISLIKE their looks
enough to do what Micheal did to his.
(as a childhood professional, I think:
- it does appear as though his childhood environment did NOT SUPPORT a Positive Self-Image . . .
- for him to believe he was beautiful - just as he was born.)
c) last but not least
how and why the media frenzy is continually permitted to run shot-gun on ones reputation without no consequences other than increased sales.
Oddly - this is one reason our democratic elections are
1 - so costly and
2 - our elected officials are too often, unbeknown to us, "in-the-pockets of Lobbyist &/or BigBusiness" - thus can no longer fully represent the concerns of just everyday Americans.
While none of us can change the past I do hope we can give a concerted effort to recognize these issues and seek ways to prevent their occurrence again.
How?
turn off that TV channel or station that is sensationalizing - whatever.
i come from the generation whose mantra was:
"You are either
- a Part of the Solution
- or a Part of the Problem."
yep good words to live by.
Well, I'm not laughing--Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and now......THE OXYCLEAN MAN! All joking aside, whether you liked these people or not, they were people with friends, family, fans, and their loss makes it sad. MJ's is particularly poignant as it just seems like he never figured out how to be happy and at peace, and may have been (probably was?) surrounded by people who did not always have his best interest at heart, and now its too late. Good reminder for us all.....
I was never a huge fan but I liked a lot of his early stuff, and I loved the Thriller album, so great to exercise to, dancing all around my little apartment! He was part of an era, an innovative and creative young man, and it's sad to think he experienced some great unhappiness. Hope he finds peace now....
I have to admit I really never got into his music until a few years ago; I've been sorta hooked on the 80's stuff since. He definitely changed music.
I thought you were joking about Billy Mays at first; that is just strange. This has been the weirdest last week I can remember in a long time.
I feel bad for Farrah, no surprise that she died but of all the bad timing.
I also am not laughing and will miss him. He had his share of problems but he was a talented writer of music and I wonder how much more he could have contributed.
Actually Core, I imagine Farrah's family is kind of glad that Jackson is the focus .. I can't think of anything worse than having the paparazzi breathing down your necks whilst in mourning.

I would think so but some of those Hollywood types live for that kind of attention.
Thats like I heard something about the Jacksons trying to turn Never land into the next Graceland???? I thought Sony owns Never land, any how that whole bunch is so far out there I wish they would just simply go away.
I think i am way older than all of you but this is so sad . I always loved his misic and with kids his music filled our home in the 80s.
Also Gale Storms passing was this week . so many stars in one week.
Trop is good to see you I was thinking about you yesterday. Glad you showed up.
Morning all.
Lavina
2009 has been a bad year.
Natasha Richardson 3/18
David Carradine 6/3
Ed McMahon 6-23
Farrah Fawcett 6/25
Michael Jackson 6/25
Billy Mays 6/28
You're right, losing Natasha Richardson was the start, wasn't it? That was so shocking and sad, she was lovely and full of life and part of such an awesome family dynasty.
And the old stars of my mom's generation, I hate to see them go! I remember Gale Storm when I was a kid, I was so sad to see her obit.
Fred Travalena also died yesterday. He was an impersonator and comedian - fairly well known; was a regular on the late night shows.
Gee...I remember Fred. Showing my age, too.
easy now, I remember him too..lol!
hey Kara--I like Michael too--aren't you on FB yet?
Debbie
LOL! You must've been like...ok, little with a great memory;)
I'm way older than Michael Jackson, but have lots of favorite songs! LOL
