Wanted: Privacy Plants for shady area

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

I have my whole front fence line to fill and i am not picky. I just want to be able to garden in my front yard without an audience. I am looking for things that grow at least 5 or 6 feet tall. It doesn't necessarily need to be thick but it would be nice. I can always plant thinner things in between thicker ones. I would prefer rooted plants but if you have something that is easy to root i'll try clippings.

Feel free to check my trade list to see if i have anything you'd like. I also have EE's but i am unsure of what kind they are. I have included a pic.

Thanks,
Shell

Hardy hibiscus such as Hibiscus coccineus or Hibiscus moscheutos would do what you want. They get pretty tall and have pretty flowers .. I don't have any plants, but I have seeds.

Thanks!!!

They aren't all that hard .. seeing you're in 9b, if you water and feed a lot they would probably be 3 - 5 feet tall 3 months after hatching. I do have a whole pot of hibiscus acetosella, rooted cuttings, which is already 3 feet tall.

Plant files say they only get to 3 feet but I've had some get upwards to 5.

I'd be happy to send it to you for postage and if you are brave enough to cut it in half and root the tops you'd have a solid screen by the end of August if you water and feed them a lot. Plant them like this to get a full screen:

o o o o o o o o o
..o o o o o o o o
o o o o o o o o o

Shell, Want something fast and tall, that will grow in shade or sun? Also easy to Propagate to fill in more area cheaply?
I suggest Mexican Sunflower tree.

I had one a few months ago that grew about 2 ft in on week , do to all the rain.

In May it was about 4ft,
right now its about 8-9 ft tall and ready to bloom bright yellow fragrant flowers.

Thank you very much!

Remember, don't plant them to close, about a foot apart would be good the will eventually fill in.
Keep cutting them back yearly so that they fill in better.

I was worried about how they would make it there, but I am assuming they made it okay.
I hope they bring you many years of privacy, blooms and happiness!

Me too!!
I planted them earlier today and now we are getting a good rain. I feel like nature is on my side. :)
