I'd like to share some pics of my chickens. This is the first chickens I've ever raised. We're really having fun with them. I don't know how to post multiple pictures in one post so I'll put up more than one. My husband's favorite is the lone white one. They are all hens. This is the old barn with the chicken's exercise pen behind it.

I agree with ZZ's That first pic is beautiful. WOW thanks for sharing, I love it
Thanks so much everyone. My husband is the chicken's main caretaker. He grew up on a 100 acre farm in Alabama so taking care of chickens is not foreign to him. Back in the old days they didn't have such elaborate accomodations. Chickens pretty much ran around the yard and ate table scraps pitched out to them. It wasn't an exact science. His mother would wring their necks and fix them up for supper. :) I can't imagine doing that. He's good at handling the chickens and catching them. I still haven't touched one yet. I do pull grass for them and they know me now.
The actual coop inisde the barn is set up off the floor on cinder blocks. We're thinking of making an indoor exercise yard for them in the one stall of the barn. We'll have to enclose it though so they can't fly around in there. I've heard if you keep lights on and a heatlamp they'll continue to lay eggs in winter. Is that true? They can fly too. I've seen them flying in that pen. :) They like to roost up on the old ladder.
I've considered letting them out to roam around a bit. I am just afriad of hawks getting them or another predator. We have woods all around us. The neighbors let their two cows and 30+ chickens roam around and so far nobody has bothered theirs but they have 4 big dogs chained to doghouses to scare away a lot of bad guys. :) I don't have that.
We put in a big garden and I'm glad I'll be able to provide them with scraps from veggies like broccoli leaves etc. They love cabbage too.
